It measures how sensitive demand is with respect to such things as price, income, and wealth. For price elasticity, it measures the percentage change in demand of a product with a one-percentage change in price. Here it is assumed that price affects demand. For example, if price elasticity is -5, it means a one-percentage decline in price will increase sales by 5%.
